On Mission to Share the Gospel

This week I would like to introduce you to Edna and Gerald Kline who have been at CHBC for a number of years.  It was a delight and so refreshing to speak with Edna today.  I hope that as I recount this particular story, you will have a sense of the relationship that Edna and Gerald have with God as they read His Word, pray, listen to and obey Him as a normal part of their Christian walk.  Here’s what’s been happening this spring in a particular man’s life because of God’s work through them:

Early last year I asked the head manager at a local fast food restaurant if he were to die that day, where would he go? He simply said he was an atheist. He was born near the Polish border and said no one there believed in God.

I shared the Gospel with him (along with my husband) month after month. He would always reply that he didn’t and would never believe. I said that he could believe because he was hearing the Truth. I also told him to simply ask God to reveal Himself to him.

There were times when my husband and I prayed for him while in the restaurant as he was working behind the counter or in his office.

After refusing to accept a Bible for quite some time, he finally agreed to take one. We also gave him a study Bible. I would give him scripture verses to read, and I prayed for God to do whatever it took to bring him to Christ.

Late last year, he experienced some health problems and he and his wife separated. He is the father of two children, ages 9 and 11, whom he dearly loves.

This past Easter night he went to bed and told God he believed He was real. He said when he awoke, he felt like a new person. When he wanted to pray, he said he didn’t know how, so he went out and bought a book on prayer. A week or so later he asked Jesus to forgive his sins. He said he tells Jesus everyday that he believes He died for his sins.

When he told his children he is a believer, they were overjoyed. He is not afraid to talk about his faith in front of his employees or customers.  Praise the Lord for His grace and mercy!

Since this event Edna and Gerald and a Christian employee at the restaurant have continued to encourage this young believer in his journey with Christ.
