UP Ministry works in partnership with local crisis pregnancy centers to come alongside women and their partners experiencing, or having experienced a crisis pregnancy. We desire to be a welcoming church that is a safe and shame-free place. Our goal is to support and encourage women and their partners in their journey through one-on-one discipleship and mentoring.
Our advisory team consists of men and women representing the ethnicity of our church and range in age from high school student to grandparents. In their role they advise, plan, review and revise our activities and services. Several have taken training to mentor/disciple the women and men we serve. A mentor is one who listens well, asks questions, encourages, but does not have all the answers.
Over the past 9 months we have seen the birth of two babies, given a baby shower, donated a car, provided child care, connected a new mom to community and CHBC resources for her child. We have been mentoring both of these moms and are committed to discipling them for the year after their delivery. We have hosted Pregnancy Support Services (PSS) classes for moms & dads here at the church, with several of our members having taught these classes. Others have volunteered at PSS. During the Sanctity of Life Baby Bottle fundraiser in January of 2024 you generously donated close to $3000 in cash. Online or mailed donations were not tracked but PSS said they had a big increase in donations after our campaign. We've donated diapers, clothes, bibles and first aid kits to both PSS and Gateway Woman’s Care. But we need more help.
BECOME A DISCIPLE/MENTOR
In the coming months we will be hosting a series of classes to train men and women of all ages to serve as disciples/mentors. Making Life Disciples 2.0 is the training program that PSS requires in preparation for mentoring the clients they refer to us.
