Overview

The purpose of this job is to lead and direct a ministry that brings the powerful gospel of Jesus Christ to the youth in the Chapel Hill Bible Church and surrounding communities. The Youth Ministry includes both Middle and High School students.


The Youth Minister should not only organize and lead a great program for our youth (Wednesday night, Sunday Morning, retreats, etc…) but should also intentionally pursue opportunities to be with students throughout the week.

  • Reporting and Working Relationships
    • The Youth Minister will report to the Associate Pastor.
    • The Youth Minister will be expected to be a contributing member to the overall vision and ministry of the church.
    • The Youth Minister will direct the activities and priorities of any administrative or intern staff within the Youth Ministry.
  • Qualifications of the Youth Minister
    • Active, growing relationship with Christ
    • Ability to articulate a well-developed and gospel-centered philosophy and theology of youth ministry
    • A love for and knowledge of God’s Word
    • Genuine love for students and clear calling to youth ministry
    • An understanding of and commitment to CHBC’s statement of faith
    • A commitment to multicultural ministry
    • Excellent communications skills
    • Strong relational skills: Ability to relate well to students, parents, team members, and a diverse church constituency
    • Demonstrated ability to attract, develop and equip leaders
    • Proven administrative and organizational skills
    • Preferably has at least 2-3 years experience leading a youth ministry or a significant portion of a multi-staff youth ministry
    • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree
  • Program Responsibilities
    • Develop, articulate, and implement a vision for youth ministry and the resulting strategy and programs
    • Lead, train, direct, disciple, and supervise youth ministry volunteers
    • Shepherd youth and their families and include ministry opportunities for families
    • Lead and direct the Sunday School experience for youth in the church, including developing/curating and teaching curriculum
    • Coordinate youth missions opportunities
    • Disciple individuals (both youth and volunteers) on a regular basis, including providing crisis intervention and counseling
    • Develop and oversee the youth ministry budget
    • Develop and lead other youth gatherings and events including weekend retreats, special events, and parent/family events integrating with the broader CHBC vision, priorities, and calendar

Meet Our Youth Ministry Search Team

Alex Aguilar

Alex Aguilar has been a member of CHBC since 2021. He has three children, 20, 18, and 14 who have all been a part of the CHBC youth group. Alex works for the Town of Chapel Hill and helps homeschool the two youngest. He has joyfully volunteered as a youth soccer coach for 12 years and a Boy Scout leader for 3 years.

Alicia Bryan

Alicia Bryan has been a member of CHBC since 2021. She has served in youth ministry for the past three years as a teacher and youth leader for the high school Sunday school class, as well as serving in various aspects of college, young adult, and women’s ministry at CHBC.

Katie Dinsmore

Katie Dinsmore has extensive experience in serving and raising youth! She is the mom of 3 boys (13, 17, 20) and served as a youth pastor’s wife for 10 years, with an additional few years after her husband’s role transitioned. She is a gifted small group leader for girls and enjoys exploring the outdoors, especially on her mountain bike!

Katie is a real estate agent and loves helping people establish roots in our community. The Dinsmore family has been at CHBC since 2007.

Michelle Kirtley

Michelle Kirtley has been a member of Chapel Hill Bible Church since 2018. She serves on the Advisory Team and teaches in the Well, CHBC's Women's Bible Study.

Michelle and her husband Aaron have four children, ages 11, 14, 16, and 18, all of whom are involved in youth. All four children attend public schools in Chapel Hill.

Tim Safley

Tim Safley has been a member of Chapel Hill Bible Church since 2017. He has served as an Elder and has led Leadership and Mentor Training for the church. Previously, Tim served as a volunteer and on staff with Young Life for almost 20 years.

Tim and his wife Karen have 2 kids, ages 14 and 17 and they attend an area private school.

Noah Schomburg

Noah Schomburg has had the joy of serving in youth ministry at Chapel Hill Bible Church for the past four years as a small group leader for 9th and 10th grade boys. He has also contributed by writing and teaching Sunday school lessons for both middle and high school students.

Before coming to CHBC, he was actively involved in youth ministry at his home church.
